South Fellini and High Treason team for D.O.G.S. of Mars
Film Producers Tap Digital Studio for Comic Adaptation
PHILADELPHIA, PA– A nocturnal monster stalks astronauts marooned on Mars in High Treason Pictures next film; D.O.G.S. of Mars. Producers of the award winning Bigger, Stronger, Faster and Neil Patrick Harris’ The Best and The Brightest have teamed up with South Fellini for the graphic adaptation.
Zoe is the swashbuckling captain of Earth’s first Martian colony. Isolated on the farthest frontier of civilization, order breaks down when unfamiliar hostiles invade. Zoe faces mutiny, death and dishonor; she must sacrifice her humanity if she hopes to survive.
South Fellini [http://SouthFellini.com] is the digital studio of writers and artists behind LaMorte Sisters for DC Comics and Carnivale De Robotique for Comixology this year. High Treason hopes to release the D.O.G.S. of Mars comic in anticipation of the film, which is scheduled for production next year.
“I know a cliché is that movie makers snatch-up amazing comic books and make them into mediocre films. High Treason wants to be part of the creative process from the beginning. We’re looking at this as a stage of preproduction,” explains Patricia Weiser, Director of Development of High Treason Pictures.
The four issue mini-series will be released by Comixology in January, 2011. D.O.G.S. of Mars is written by Tony Trov, Johnny Zito and Christian Weiser with illustrations by Paul Maybury. Covers will be provided by Rhazzah; the artist of critically acclaimed Moon Girl Fights Crime.
“We take you to the edge of the future and find that people haven’t changed all that much. Things go ‘Lord of the Flies’ pretty quickly and these characters discover who their friends and enemies really are,” says Tony Trov.
“Paul Maybury is doing a sick job on the art. The designs are very industrial with splashes of steampunk and Japanese gore splattered about. His vision of the monster is a grotesque, alien twist on a classic.” continues Johnny Zito.
